160,000 trees in the ground
160,000+ trees now grow on healthcare sites, turning forgotten patches of land into green space where patients heal faster, staff have space to breathe and nature recovers.

Ban for harmful anaesthetic
Our work on Desflurane, an anaesthetic that has a greater warming effect than CO2, led to it being decommissioned by NHS England and banned by NHS Scotland.

A global nursing workforce
1,000+ nurses and midwives in 31 countries on every continent but Antarctica. The CSH-led Burdett Trust Nursing programme is building global sustainability expertise in nursing.

1,465 tonnes of CO2e, £3.8m saved
Since 2022, 19 organisations have cut 1,465 tonnes of CO2e and £3.8m of cost through our Green Team Competition which trains healthcare teams to find and stop waste.
5,000 professionals
trained
5,000+ healthcare professionals trained by us. These professionals then go on to take their learning back to their services and share their new ideas.
Sustainability is now on the QI curriculum
Because of our SusQI framework and Academy, quality improvement trainees across the NHS now learn to measure sustainability alongside cost & outcomes.

Sustainability in Quality Improvement
The Sustainability in QI (SusQI) framework offers a holistic approach to improving healthcare, viewing all improvements and change processes through the sustainable value lens. To support organisations and healthcare staff to incorporate this approach, CSH offers strategic input and project support, short courses in Sustainability in Quality Improvement and open access SusQI resource.


Networks Platform
The Networks Community is an internationally respected online platform for all those interested in making healthcare sustainable. Our community is open to everyone, including healthcare professionals, patients, administrators, researchers, students and more. By joining our Networks you will have access to a wealth of resources and opportunities to connect with others working in the field.
Green Space for Health
Our Green Space for Health team inspires and supports healthcare sites in transforming their green space for health, wellbeing and biodiversity. We believe that a nature-positive health service is vital for building healthier and more sustainable communities, and nature-based solutions are critical for tackling climate change. Our flagship NHS Forest project helps sites to plan, plant and manage trees, woodlands and green spaces to create habitats for wildlife and sustainable social spaces for people.
